New Diisocyanate Regulations – Professional User Training
From 24th August 2023, training is required for professional and industrial users of polyurethane adhesives and sealant products within the UK and EU. The Polyurethane Training platform is now live and in use.
What are Diisocyanates?
Diisocyanates have been used since the late 1940’s to make polyurethane products. These are produced through a chemical reaction between diisocyanates and polyols.
Polyurethanes have a long and reliable history. They are used to create many products we use every day, including foams used in upholstery, and cleaning goods. The construction industry has found a vast range of uses for them, from insulation foam, coatings, waterproofing and numerous adhesives & sealants.
Training
Training and certification for professional and industrial product users, which involves passing a test, must be implemented from 24 August 2023. Records of the training given to employees must be maintained by employers. Every five years, renewal of the training will be necessary.
Users can access the PU Training Platform online at www.safeusediisocyanates.eu.
For a small fee, users can either complete self-eLearning, or can register for sessions with an accredited trainer.
Flex-R recommends that users of their PU product range should complete Module T045 “General Training” & Module T049 “Professional application – Flooring & Waterproofing”.
