Terry joined the business in 2018 as the manager for the Flex-R branch in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. When he joined the business, the premises had only just been secured. He was involved in overseeing all fixtures and fittings for the building and employing staff, in readiness to get the branch up and running. Roll forward 6 years, the branch now has 10 staff and services roofing customers throughout Scotland, Wales, Ireland, and Northern England down to Hereford.
Terry, who lives in Barnsley, left school at the age of 16 and got himself a job in the warehouse at a local plumbing and electrical merchant. After some time, he moved to work on the trade counter and then as a salesperson for that business. He was then approached by a national merchant chain to become a branch manager at the age of 26. He has been managing branches, stock, and staff for over 20 years.
The position at Flex-R was his first move into working within the Roofing Industry. At Flex-R, supplying flat roofing products is just one element of their service, where they work with clients throughout the entire process from design and specification to purchase, delivery and installation.
The Huddersfield branch was an addition to the High Wycombe facility where the flex-R business started in 2000. Today the business has a large external sales & technical team, that is supported internally by an experienced team in both the High Wycombe & Huddersfield office locations. The business has grown each year and into new markets but at its core are loyal, contractor and merchant customers, with strong relationships across all sectors.
