New Flex-R Specification Manager eyes flagship projects
Flex-R has made the latest in a series of key appointments this year with Simon Blackham joining the growing team as a Regional Specification Manager.
Simon has already hit the ground running for the company as he looks to get Flex-R specified on some flagship projects.
He brings more than 15 years’ experience to the role, most of which was rising through the ranks to become a Specification Manager in the industry, and has first-hand experience of working on some of the UK’s highest-profile construction projects.
Simon is excited about joining Flex-R and believes that there’s an opportunity to increase the amount of projects where its range of specialist products, such as RubberBond, Sure-Weld, Enduris and LQD-R, are specified.
“I’ve joined a very ambitious company at a very exciting time, and there are lots of opportunities to get our products specified on some fantastic developments,” said the family man from Nottingham, who has a young son and a grown-up daughter.
“I know from experience that some of the high-profile projects currently under construction in my region would benefit from products such as RubberBond.
“We are the sole UK distributor for US-manufactured Carlisle SynTec single-ply products, and you only have to look at all the case studies they have amassed – such as the one at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago back in 1961, which is still going strong – to see why these products should be specified.”
Our National Sales Manager Danny Cole has welcomed Simon’s appointment as the company looks to strengthen its position as a supplier for the flat roofing market.
“We are lucky to have recruited Simon because of the experience and knowledge that he brings to the new role at Flex-R,” said Danny. “The creation of a series of Regional Specification Manager roles across the country will fulfil two key objectives for the business: supporting our Specialist Registered Installer (SRI) roofing contractors and building links with specifiers and architects to get our products specified for forthcoming projects – which, in turn, will provide a pipeline of tenders for tier-one contractors.”
