ARCHITECTS & SPECIFIERS
Flex-R has created a network of Specialist Registered Installers (SRI) that offer superior installation, better product range and support. SRI businesses can provide the complete service you require while Flex-R utilise their proven and extensive expertise to assist with design, advice, material recommendations and guidance.
Contractors who want to join the SRI scheme will only be considered if they want to build a relationship not just for a one-off job. This has many benefits for architects, specifiers and property owners.
Roofing companies apply to become SRI accredited and are vetted before training. They must be in house trained before we will supply RubberBond, Sure-Weld or LQD-R roofing products to them, they then enter the on-site training and support process to ensure their work is of a high standard.
A quality roof is more than just the products that go into it - it’s also the support and service that assist you throughout the entire process. It’s important to have knowledgeable representatives and distributors who are experienced in EPDM single ply roofing and can provide you with the service you need from design and specification to purchase, delivery and installation.
Approved by both the British Board of Agrément (certificate no.02/3967) and the National House-Building Council (NHBC), you can be assured you are receiving a product that meets the highest quality standards.
RubberBond FleeceBack leaves rivals behind, not only due to the benefits of fleece reinforcement, but also due to the unique patented technology used in the manufacturing process. Comprising two layers laminated together to create a resilient 3mm membrane, the waterproofing 1.2mm thick EPDM membrane bonded to a strong 1.8mm deep polyester fleece backing.
Invest today to save later
The average annual cost of a RubberBond FleeceBack EPDM roof system offers significant savings beyond those of a typical 10 or 20 year roof system. A long-term EPDM solution reduces the hassle and cost associated with a lower quality roof.
Carlisle EPDM roof systems provide performance and savings for decades. Long-term analysis demonstrates that choosing EPDM can cut the lifecycle costs of a roof by as much as 25%, an investment resulting in savings throughout the life of a roof. Research demonstrates that the amount of energy required to produce EPDM, from extraction to installation, is lower than any other single ply material.
Weather resistance and reparability
Carlisle recently updated its Xenon Arc weathering data which accurately reflects EPDM’s superior long-term performance. The Xenon Arc test measures how much energy a product can be exposed to without exhibiting cracks or crazing. Carlisle’s EPDM achieved 41,580 kj/m², outperforming its own TPO and PVC membranes by more than double. The long-term weather resistance and reparability of EPDM continue to be major points of differentiation that building owners and design professionals take into consideration when selecting roofing systems. A roof’s primary function remains to keep a building dry and EPDM is unmatched in its ability to do so.
As a member of the RIBA NBS Plus service, we can provide the client with a NBS format specification for any project. Specifications are available to download in document format or from NBS Plus website.

Considerations when investing in a TPO roofing system.
Experience and Innovation
Leading the industry in TPO research and development for nearly 20 years., with more than three billion square feet of Carlisle Sure-Weld TPO membrane has been installed on rooftops across the globe. That’s more than any other manufacturer.
To Protect Your Investment: Require that your TPO membrane be manufactured by a company with at least 10 years of TPO manufacturing experience.
Xenon arc and long-term heat aging shows that Sure-Weld TPO membrane tests to the highest standards in the industry. That’s because every TPO membrane is enhanced with OctaGuard XT™ Weathering Package, a unique eight-component blend of antioxidants, UV absorbers, as well as light and heat stabilizers that results in the most dependable, long-term performance characteristics in the industry.
Protect Your Investment: Ensure that your TPO roofing system will withstand the highest temperatures and UV exposures by investing in a membrane that can withstand over 52 weeks at 115˚C and a minimum of 20,000 kj/m² xenon arc resistance at 80˚C without cracking or showing signs of material failure.
Independent tests show that Sure-Weld TPO membrane exhibits far stronger seams than competing products. That means better wind uplift performance with fewer leaks and callbacks. Protect Your Investment: A strong seam is a vital part of any TPO roofing system. Request that the TPO manufacturer provide seam weld strength testing results greater than 60 Lbf/in at a wide range of welding temperatures and speeds.
TPO membranes can be welded at the widest temperature and humidity ranges resulting in strong welds without having to modify welder settings to compensate for changing climatic conditions. This leads to greater productivity and more reliable seams.
Protect Your Investment: Improper welds are the most common and costly mistakes made on a TPO roofing system, so choose a membrane that provides the widest window of weldability to produce strong seams
A combination of our state-of-the-art manufacturing process and over 15 years of manufacturing experience creates a smoother top surface designed to resist dirt, debris, mildew and bacteria build-up. That means you get a cleaner, more solar reflective membrane throughout the life of your roof.
Protect Your Investment: A smooth surface is the best way to maintain high reflectivity values, so stick with the TPO roof system that offers the best protection against dirt and debris.
Thickness Over Scrim
1.5mm TPO features a typical thickness over scrim well above the required ASTM minimum. This thickness leads to greater weathering resistance with more OctaGuard XT Weathering Package for added protection against solar heat and UV. In addition to a thicker top ply, equal embedment of the scrim also provides increased lamination strength.
Protect Your Investment: The top ply of your TPO membrane is the first and best defence your building has against harmful weather, so be certain that your next TPO roof system features an optimal thickness over scrim.
Carlisle offers over a dozen prefabricated, in-stock, standard-order accessories and countless custom-order accessories. All carry a CFA (Certified Fabricated Accessory) stamp of approval, so you know they are manufactured to the highest standards. Every Carlisle CFA-approved accessory saves time and money during installation.
Protect Your Investment: A typical roof can have hundreds of penetrations. Ensure that these pipes, curbs and other obstructions are properly waterproofed with TPO accessories certified by the TPO membrane manufacturer issuing your warranty.
