Flex-R makes another key appointment

Flex-R has further strengthened its growing team with the appointment of Barry Shorrock as Area Sales Manager for the North of England.

It’s a newly created role for the company in the region, and Barry eyes opportunities for Flex-R products to be the roof covering of choice for simple domestic projects right up to larger commercial installations.

He says he will use his extensive knowledge of the building trade in the region to serve the existing network of Flex-R merchants and roofing contractors and develop new clients.

“I’ve been well known in the construction industry for more than seven years and have a large contact list,” he said. “I am looking forward to getting around to seeing them to promote the fantastic range of Flex-R products, such as RubberBond, Sure-Weld and LQD-R.

“Roofing contractors and merchants can be our best marketing tool – the more contractors we can train to become approved installers, the more likely they will be to use that accreditation as a competitive advantage to secure contracts. And with three fantastic systems to choose from, there are real opportunities to get Flex-R products specified by homeowners, architects and developers. This, in turn, will create a pipeline of work for our approved contractors.”

Based in Blackburn, Barry is only a short drive away from the new Flex-R depot in Huddersfield, where there is a huge store of products for contractors to source deliveries or to collect. The Huddersfield depot will also be a training centre for contractors to become approved installers of Flex-R products.

National Sales Manager Danny Cole is delighted at Barry’s appointment and said: “He joins us at an exciting time as we look to strengthen our position as a major supplier for the flat roofing market.”

Barry’s appointment comes hot on the heels of Michael Iddenden-Smith joining Flex-R as Specification Manager for the South of England last month. Michael is responsible for developing the specification side of the business and has already hit the ground running, using his 15+ years of construction industry experience to great effect.
