Flex-R creates Specification Manager role

Flex-R has kicked off the first of a series of new appointments in newly created roles within the business as part of ambitious growth plans.

Michael Iddenden-Smith has joined as Specification Manager for the South of England, and he will be responsible for developing the specification side of the business.

His role will encompass two key remits. The first is to support our Specialist Registered Installers (SRIs), who may need additional resources to tender for projects where a greater level of specification may be required. The other is to build links with specifiers and architects to get Flex-R’s range of specialist products, such as RubberBond, Sure-Weld and LQD-R, specified for forthcoming projects – which, in turn, will provide a pipeline of tenders for its tier-one contractors.

Michael brings more than 15 years’ experience to the new role and is hitting the ground running by initially focusing his efforts within the M25 area.

“Flex-R has three fantastic systems, so there is a real opportunity to get them specified into a wider range of different projects, from simple domestic projects up to larger commercial installations,” said Michael.

“I’ve already got a good list of contacts, so with a product range as good as ours and the ability to recommend tier-one contractors who have gone through our training, I should be pushing on an open door.”

Our National Sales Manager Danny Cole is delighted at Michael’s appointment, as it’s another piece in the jigsaw as the company looks to strengthen its position as a supplier for the flat roofing market.

“Michael knows flat roofing because he has experience from the merchant side and as a consultant, so we have high hopes for him,” said Danny. “Having introduced the dedicated Specification Manager role recently, we already know that it is able to generate more than £1m of turnover in a six-month period.”
