The certificate gives additional information on the assessment of the product in terms of:

The British Board of Agrément (BBA) is an independent UK organisation that offers an approval service for construction products, systems and installers. They are the UK’s major authority for providing reassurance to consumers and achieve this through Agrément Certificates.

Companies and individuals using products with BBA approval can do so in the knowledge that that they will perform as set out in the certificate. Whilst EPDM is one non reinforced layer, RubberBond FleeceBack comprises two layers laminated together. The waterproofing consists of a 1.2mm thick EPDM membrane bonded to a strong 1.8mm deep polyester fleece backing to create a resilient 3mm membrane.

The EPDM layer:

  • Will not tear, split or crack with age.

The FleeceBack layer creates:

  • A thicker stronger product, over twice the thickness of standard EPDM;
  • 180% greater tear & 60% greater impact resistance than commercial grade 1.5mm EPDM;
  • There is no shrinkage or stress to cause leaks at laps, flashings, up stands or other angle changes or penetrations;
  • A cushioning layer, specifically designed for use over existing surfaces;
  • Superior wind uplift resistance due to the excellent strength achieved between the adhesive and the fleece layer;
  • Greater bond strength achieved with FleeceBack compared to standard EPDM.

Standard single ply materials such as PVC, TPO & EPDM membranes that don’t incorporate a fleece backing will, if unrestricted, over time, shrink by up to 10%, shortening their lifespan. RubberBond FleeceBack BBA Certified EPDM does not suffer from shrinkage problems.
